Like in 2008: Jamie Green wins ahead of Bruno Spengler

Five C-Class cars within the first seven positions

Jamie Green drove the 2008 Junge Sterne AMG Mercedes C-Class to victory in the 2009 DTM’s third round at Nuremberg’s Norisring. After 80 exciting laps with three lead changes during the final four laps, Green who had started seventh on the grid won 1.3sec ahead of Bruno Spengler in the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class. Thus both drivers repeated last year’s finish; Green drove the same car as in 2008.

It was the seventh consecutive race win for Mercedes-Benz at the Norisring, the ninth since 2000. For the second time since Gary Paffett’s success in Oschersleben two years ago, a last year’s car won a DTM race.

Gary Paffett, Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class, winner of the previous race at the Lausitzring, came home fifth ahead of Ralf Schumacher (Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class) who achieved his best DTM result so far. Paul Di Resta (AMG Mercedes C-Class), who had been relegated to 15th on the grid following a breach of the parc fermé rules, ended up seventh. Five Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars finished amongst the top seven.

Susie Stoddart (TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) came home 10th, Mathias Lauda (stern AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished14th. Maro Engel (GQ AMG Mercedes C-Class) retired after he had stalled the engine following his second pit stop on lap 47.

In the overall ranking, Timo Scheider (Audi) who was fourth today leads with 17 points ahead of Spengler with 16 points and Green, Paffett and Mattias Ekström (Audi) who are all on 14 points each.

A total of 132,000 spectators attended the 2009 DTM’s third round at the Norisring during the weekend.

Jamie Green (2008 Junge Sterne AMG Mercedes C-Class) winner: “This was a great race today. I thank my team for a perfect car and the optimum strategy. Starting seventh on the grid I hadn’t expected to end up on the top spot of the podium; this is absolutely fantastic. Now we will celebrate.“

Bruno Spengler (2009 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class) second: “It’s a shame that I wasn’t able to win. After I had overtaken Scheider, I made a mistake under braking at the hairpin and that was it. Congratulations to Jamie – I am happy that he took the race win for Mercedes-Benz.“

Gary Paffett (2009 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class) fifth: “What a tough race. I drove consistently in fourth place; however, due to the lengthy second pitsop I lost this position to Ekström. All drivers were very close together today, so I’m still satisfied to have scored four points.”

Ralf Schumacher (2009 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class) sixth: “This is my best DTM result and I’m happy to have achieved this in the season’s highlight here at the Norisring. With a better starting position an even better result would have been possible. I thank my team for their good job and congratulate Jamie on his victory. Now I look forward to the next race in Zandvoort in three weeks time when I want to improve further.”

Paul Di Resta (2009 AMG Mercedes C-Class) seventh: “Starting 15th on the grid the seventh-place finish is not too bad. Without the relegation it has been a difficult weekend for me and so I am still satisfied to have scored two points.”

Susie Stoddart (2008 TV-Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) 10th: “My race was quite OK, although I missed points again. During my third stint I was a bit slower than before. Congratulations to our team and Jamie on this race win.”

Mathias Lauda (2008 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class) 14th: “Halfway through the race I had gearbox problems and was not able to change gears. I already wanted to pit but all of a sudden everything worked again fine. Although I then set almost the same lap times as the top drivers, I was too far behind to catch up.”

Maro Engel (2008 GQ AMG Mercedes C-Class) retired: “Following my second pit stop I stalled the engine and was not able to start it again. This was my fault, I am very sorry for my team.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: “Probably the best DTM race of all times – and we won it. Thank you Jamie, you were the best. With the same car, Jamie had won already last year’s race at the Norisring, this is probably a unique record. This victory is the seventh in a row for Mercedes-Benz at the Norisring. Jamie achieved it from seventh on the grid and at the finish seven cars were within 3.8sec – so seven was a very special lucky number today. Ingmar Persson and his team did a great job, they had a very good strategy and showed perfect pit stops. As short the Norisring is as long lasted the excitement today, and then our guys overtook in a very convincing way. First Bruno and then Jamie – world class, you cannot do it better. Of course the spectators were very enthusiastic.”

Affalterbach, 18 February 2009 – Motor racing specialist HWA AG is reporting revenues of EUR 64.2 million (m) in its preliminary results (HGB basis) for the year ended 31 December 2008, an increase of 5.4% in comparison with the previous year.

Operating profit (EBIT), in contrast, fell from EUR 9.1m in 2007 to EUR 0.45m in 2008.

This significant fall in earnings, already announced on 25 November 2008, is partly attributable to its motor sport business, in which HWA AG acts as a complete service provider to Daimler AG in its motor racing activities in the German Touring Car Masters Championship (DTM). The higher expenses that became necessary in the course of the racing season in order to improve the team’s competitive edge were only compensated in part by HWA AG’s business partner.

In HWA AG’s other business segment, vehicles and components, part of the current vehicles production program was postponed until 2009.

Paul Di Resta finished the 11th and final round of the 2008 DTM at Hockenheim in second place and ended the season runner-up in the championship. Race win and title went to Timo Scheider (Audi).

Within the last five races, Paul Di Resta won once and came home second four times; thus he scored more points than any other driver during this period. In the end, he was four points behind Scheider.

The team Mercedes-Benz Bank/AMG Mercedes with Paul Di Resta and Bruno Spengler won the teams‘ championship with 109 points ahead of Abt (Tom Kristensen/Timo Scheider on 102 points.

Jamie Green (Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished the race in third place ahead of Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class).

Bernd Schneider (Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished his DTM career – 227 races for Mercedes-Benz from 1991 until 2008 – in sixth place.

Gary Paffett (stern AMG Mercedes C-Class) came home 11th in the race and ninth in the championship with 13 points; he ist he best driver with a last year’s car.

Maro Engel (JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class) ended up 12th; Ralf Schumacher came home 14th in the last race of his DTM debut year. Mathias Lauda (Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class) and Susie Stoddart (TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) retired on the second lap after their cars had been severely damaged in collisions with other cars.

A total of 165,000 spectators attended the 2008 DTM seasonal finale at Hockenheim during the weekend – a bigger crowd than ever before in a DTM event.

Paul Di Resta (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class), second: “First of all congratulations to Timo Scheider. He deserved to win the title. However, I am disappointed how two Audi drivers acted. Mattias Ekström tried to push me off track not only once, but twice. I am not known for complaining quickly or being somebody who cannot lose. After my second pit stop I would have had a chance to close in on Timo, but Martin Tomczyk blocked me. However, I am still satisfied with second place. We had a very good second half of the season and caught up; unfortunately it was not enough, but I am happy with my team and myself.”

Jamie Green (2008 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class), third: „On the first lap at the hairpin, Mattias Ekström blocked the inner line; when Paul went to the outside, Ekström tried to push him aside – I already know these manoeuvres by him from Barcelona. I was able to pass on the inside and was second. When Paul closed in I didn’t want to obstruct his race. This year I have won twice and until two races ago I was still in contention for the title. Unfortunately I also had a problem with Ekström at Bercelona and lost my chances for the championship.“

Bruno Spengler (2008 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class), fourth: “My car was great and if I hadn’t lost an aerodynamic part in the beginning, I could have been faster. It’s a shame that Paul didn’t make it – he and the team would have deserved it.”

Bernd Schneider (2008 Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class), sixth: “Well done Timo Scheider winning the championship title. Paul also had a great season and would have deserved it. My race today was not perfect, but it was great fun, particularly during the last couple of laps. It was great to see the fans on the Mercedes-Benz grandstand say ‚good-bye‘. I want to thank everybody, especially my team – they have been and still are good friends and are like a family for me.”

Gary Paffett (2007 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class), 11th: „My race was quite ok; however, I struggled with oversteer and was not able to move up."

Maro Engel (2007 JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class), 12th: „I had an exciting fight with Gary, which was great fun.”

Ralf Schumacher (2007 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class), 14th „On the first lap of the race I damaged the front splitter and therefore I was not able to improve. However, all in all I am quite satisfied with my DTM debut year. I scored points on two occasions with my last year’s car which is quite ok.”

Susie Stoddart (2007 TV-Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class), retired with a damaged car after a collision: „First Katherine Legge touched me really hard, then Christijan Albers spun into my car – I had no chance to avoid him. My car was badly damaged and I was not able to continue.”

Mathias Lauda (2007 Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class), retired with a damaged car after a collision: „It was like a chain reaction– Winkelhock hit Albers, Albers hit me. My bonnet went flying and the front of my car was severely damaged, so I had to retire.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: “Congratulations to Timo Scheider and his team; Timo deserved the title. Paul drove a great race, although he was handicapped after the first-lap incidents; the damages to his car didn’t make him faster. We have a good season behind us. Our 2008 C-Class scored more points than the 2008 car of the competition and therefore our team won the teams’ championship – so there is no reason to be sad. Thank you to the HWA team led by Gerhard Ungar and Hans-Jürgen Mattheis. Paul was a sample for consistency; in the last five races of the second half of the season he achieved one victory and four second places and thus more points than any other driver during this period.

It was a good finale with packed grandstands and a new record crowd, and so it was also a good end of the season. On behalf of all of us I want to thank the ITR and the organisers of the Hockenheimring for their efforts – there were significantly more spectators than at the Formula 1 grand prix in summer and all responsible persons can be proud of that.”

Paul Di Resta Second and Two Points behind the Leader

Paul Di Resta finished the 10th round of the 2008 DTM at Le Mans in second place, reduced the gap...

After 41 laps in changeable and rainy conditions, Di Resta crossed the finish line 4.250sec behind winner Mattias Ekström (Audi). Gary Paffett (stern AMG Mercedes C-Class), who had started his 50th DTM race 16th on the grid drove his 2007 C-Class to a fourth place finish. Bernd Schneider (Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished fifth after an exciting battle with Scheider in the closing stages. Due to the changeable weather conditions, Ekström, Di Resta, Schneider and Scheider had to make extra pit stops to change tyres, as did several other drivers.

Prior to the finale at Hockenheim on 26th October, the championship remains exciting: Paul Di Resta is second overall with 63 points; Scheider leads on 65 points. Ekström is third with 54 points but is out of contention for the title fight.

In the team rankings, Mercedes-Benz Bank/AMG Mercedes with Paul Di Resta and Bruno Spengler lead with 96 points, eight points ahead of Audi Sport Team Abt.

Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class) ended up seventh; Jamie Green (Salzgitter Mercedes C-Class) came home 10th. Susie Stoddart (TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished in 12th position whilst Maro Engel (JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class) was 14th followed by Mathias Lauda (Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class); he and Susie completed their 30th DTM races respectively.

Ralf Schumacher (Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class) retired on the opening lap after he had been pushed into a spin by Katherine Legge (Audi) and got stuck in the gravel.

A total of 18,000 spectators attended the 10th round of the 2008 DTM at Le Mans during the weekend.

Paul Di Resta (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class), second: “It was not the right decision to start with rain tyres, but in conditions like today, it is difficult to make the right choice. It’s super that I finished second despite my extra pit stop and that I am only two points behind Timo Scheider – we knew that it would rain in the final third and my team had the perfect timing for the change; that was crucial. My speed was good despite the handicap weight which we now got rid of for the final race. I look forward to Hockenheim and I want to win in the great finale and thus clinch the championship title.”

Gary Paffett (2007 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class), fourth: “To end up fourth after starting 16th is a nice result. I was even third in between and almost made it to the podium, but in the end Prémat was a little bit faster. I thank my team for the perfect strategy today.”

Bernd Schneider (2008 Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class), fifth: “In the beginning, slicks were the right choice, although it was quite tricky. However, in the end I had to make an additional stop, because the rain was too hard for dry tyres. The battle with the overall leader Timo Scheider was fun, and I am happy that I was able to overtake him.”

Bruno Spengler (2008 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class), seventh: “A complicated race for drivers and teams. In addition to the tricky conditions, I had a coming together with Oliver Jarvis and as a consequence, my car was damaged at the left rear. In these circumstances, seventh place is not too bad.”

Jamie Green (2008 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class), 10th: “A difficult race. At the start on the damp track, I lost nine positions and came into the pits immediately to change tyres. When it began to rain harder towards the end, I needed another extra tyre change and that was my race.

Susie Stoddart (2007 TV-Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class), 12th: “I was on rain tyres for the first 10 laps and lost a lot of time. After my first pit stop I was faster, but I was not able to improve. I am happy for Paul – in Hockenheim he has a good chance to win the title.”

Maro Engel (2007 JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class), 14th: “I pitted five times – it was just not our day today. I thank my team anyway, because they changed a faulty gearbox sensor after the warm-up right in time for the race.”

Mathias Lauda (2007 Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class), 15th: “I gained four or five positions at the start; however, I lost them again at the chicane because I was the only driver around who did not use the short cut. Due to the fuel can which got stuck in my car I had to make an extra pit stop and that destroyed my race.”

Ralf Schumacher (2007 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class), retired in the gravel after being pushed into a spin: “I made a good start and avoided the skirmish in the chicane. Then I was pushed into a spin by Katherine Legge, got stuck in the gravel and retired. What a shame, it could have been a good race today.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: “This was an inspiring DTM race one of the very best I have ever seen - these 41 laps of Le Mans were probably more exciting than many of the traditional 24 hours of Le Mans. Our decision for Paul, Bruno and Jamie to start on wet tyres was wrong. However, the HWA team under Gerhard Ungar and Hans-Jürgen Mattheis did not give up, and so did our drivers, particularly Paul Di Resta. We knew it would rain harder in the final third of the race, and we timed Paul’s stop for the change to wet tyres perfectly, which was crucial and brought Paul back in contention. He was the man of the race. After his first pit stop he was 38 seconds down, but then he drove a sensational race like in his own league. For some stages he was two seconds per lap faster than the leaders. He won one of the last four races - the one in Barcelona two weeks ago – and finished second three times, thus reducing the gap to the top to two points. In the team rankings, we are eight points ahead. Remarkable: Gary’s performance who drove the 2007 C-Class from 16th on the grid to fourth place, and Bernd, who eventually defeated Scheider in a tough but very fair battle. We all hope now for a great finale in Hockenheim and now we want to clinch the title there with Paul – the momentum of the second half of the season speaks for Paul.”

Paul Di Resta (AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished the eighth round of the 2008 DTM series at Brands Hatch in second place. After 82 laps, Di Resta came home 0.793sec behind winner Timo Scheider (Audi).

After eight of 11 races, Mercedes-Benz and Audi are tied on victories with four wins each. In the overall rankings, Jamie Green (Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class), who has won two races so far this season and finished fourth today, and Paul Di Resta (one win) are second and third respectively with 45 points each; nine points behind leader Timo Scheider (Audi) on 54 points.

Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class) ended up sixth, Gary Paffett (stern AMG Mercedes C-Class) with the 2007 C-Class finished eighth. He beat Bernd Schneider (Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class) by 0.173sec to the line. Schneider received a drive-through penalty for exceeding the pit lane speed limit and came home ninth.

Ralf Schumacher (Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished 15th ahead of Mathias Lauda (Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class) and Maro Engel (JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class). Susie Stoddart (TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) ended up 19th. She received a 30sec time penalty for pushing another car.

Formula 1 World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton visited Brands Hatch on Sunday. Since racing in the Formula 3 Euro Series, which he won in 2005, he still has many friends in the DTM paddock. Lewis watched the race from the pit wall, signed autographs for his British fans and completed a couple of demonstration laps in his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car.

A total of 26,800 spectators attended the eighth round of the 2008 DTM at Brands Hatch during the weekend.

Paul Di Resta (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class), second: “Our team did a great job and the race went very well. Unfortunately, we had a weight handicap compared to the Audis, therefore I didn’t have a chance to overtake Timo Scheider, although I was able to drive faster. However, I am satisfied with second place and the championship is still open.”

Jamie Green (2008 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class), fourth: “An interesting race. First I lost one place to Oliver Jarvis, then I was able to overtake him. Later I got stuck behind Martin Tomczyk, but made up time during the pit stops. It’s a pity that Mattias Ekstrom was able to pass me, but I got the maximum out of the car and I could not do better than fourth place. However, everything is still possible. ”

Bruno Spengler (2008 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class), sixth: “A difficult race. In the second half I lacked top speed, about 10 km/h. We don’t know why and have to analyse the data. Therefore I was not able to hold off Martin Tomczyk. I now look forward to the next three races – those circuits suit me better than Brands Hatch.”

Gary Paffett (2007 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class), eighth: “I am happy about eighth place and the point I scored. My car suffered from oversteer and it was not easy to keep Bernd Schneider behind me, but the fight with him was great fun.”

Bernd Schneider (2008 Original-Teile AMG Mercedes C-Class), ninth: “After my second pit stop, I hit the speed limiter button by accident and therefore, I was too fast at the end of the pit lane. It’s a shame – my car was great and a clearly better result was possible.”

Ralf Schumacher (2007 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class), 15th: “This was a difficult weekend for me. First, I had to learn this track which was new to me. In today’s race I had problems with understeer. But this is motor racing and I now look forward to the upcoming race in Barcelona.“

Mathias Lauda (2007 Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class), 16th “My race was over on the opening lap when I had to avoid Maro Engel who spun in front of me. Later on, I had a coming-together with Christijan Albers which damaged my car and I was not able to push anymore.”

Maro Engel (2007 JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class), 17th: “Right after the start, Christijan Albers pushed me into a spin at Druids. Then there was a problem during my first pit stop – and that was it with my race.”

Susie Stoddart (2007 TV-Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class), 19th: “I started well, but lost time in traffic afterwards. In the end, I suffered from understeer and finally I received a 30sec time penalty.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: “An awesome race and great touring car sport for the spectators watching at Brands Hatch and on the TV. Paul Di Resta drove sensationally and managed to put Timo Scheider under pressure until the end despite a 10-kilo weight handicap. Paul was able to drive faster, but overtaking is impossible here. At the finish, he was only eight tenths of a second behind - it could hardly have been closer, and I think all the spectators enjoyed that. Congratulations to Timo who was flawless and Abt-Audi on their win today. Jamie Green who finished fourth today and Paul are now both nine points behind Scheider, the championship remains open prior to the final three races. I am glad that more than 700 colleagues with families and friends from our Formula 1 team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines came to the circuit today to attend the race live and support our drivers and teams. We particularly thank Lewis Hamilton who spent the whole day from 10 in the morning until the evening for the spectators and met his old friends in the DTM, whom he knows since his time in Formula 3. The new record attendance here at Brands Hatch is in no small part also thanks to his contribution.”

HWA AG expecting satisfactory second half of 2008 – interim figures as at 30 June

Affalterbach, 6 August 2008 – Business developments at motor sport specialists HWA AG in the first...

Revenues in the first half year were stable at EUR 30.25 million, the same as in the first half of 2007 (EUR 30.25m). EBIT for the period was EUR 2.1 million (first half 2007: EUR 3.6m). HWA AG’s net profit after tax was EUR 1.4 million, or 28 eurocents per share (first half 2007: EUR 2.3m and 45 eurocents/share).

In its motor racing business, where HWA AG acts as total service provider for Daimler AG’s motor sport activities in the German Touring Car Masters Championship (DTM), there was a significant increase in the costs incurred, with the aim of enhancing the team’s performance. In the first half of 2008 – in coordination with Daimler AG – there was substantial investment in the continuing development of the racing cars, capacities and test series. Management is convinced that these investments will provide the necessary basis for the continuing success of the AMG Mercedes team in the medium term.

In the vehicles and components business there were no budgeted or actual sales revenues in the first half of the year. Income is expected to flow from development work in the second half, when the delivery of the new models starts.

Business with Formula 3 engines has made a highly satisfactory contribution to revenues and earnings: there were 76 engines in use in 2007, compared with 100 so far in 2008.

For the second half of 2008 HWA AG’s Management is predicting a solid performance – despite a thoroughly challenging market environment, in which the automobile industry’s value chain is exposed to increasing pressure on margins. Production of the new model will be starting, which will of course mean a much greater emphasis on revenues within the vehicles and components business than in the first half. Post-tax profits year on year will be boosted by the significantly lower tax rate introduced as part of the tax reforms.

HWA AG’s major investor from Qatar, Nasser bin Khaled (NBK) Holding, has informed us that it has further increased its interest in the Company in recent weeks: purchases through the stock exchange and off-exchange have raised its holding to 28 percent.

Company profile HWA AG:

HWA AG was founded in 1998 as a spin-off AMG, which was established in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht as the Mercedes Benz customisation specialist. Towards the end of 1998 Aufrecht sold a majority interest in AMG Motoren- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, as it then was, to Daimler AG. In the course of the disposal, motor racing, what is today the AMG-Mercedes team in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and parts of the vehicles and components business was spun off and transferred to HWA AG. In the motor racing business, HWA AG acts as a full service provider to Daimler AG Motorsport in the DTM. It is responsible for the whole process of development and construction of the racing cars, including the motors, together with all other activities involved in the racing team’s operations. In its vehicles and components business, it develops and builds cars and vehicle components for the automobile industry. Since 2003 HWA AG has been producing and servicing racing engines for the Formula 3 Euroseries and the British Formula 3 Series. HWA AG currently has 223 employees in its Affalterbach works. In 2007 HWA AG had revenues of EUR 60.9 million and EBIT of EUR 9.1 million. Its net profit after interest and taxes was EUR 5.6 million. The company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the Entry Standard segment since 19 April 2007.

DTM Nürburgring: 1-2-3-4 Success for the HWA AMG Mercedes C-Class:

Bernd Schneider (Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class) won the seventh round of the 2008 DTM at the...

After the opening lap and a tyre change during the formation lap, Mathias Ekström was 4.6sec and Timo Scheider 5.8sec behind Bernd Schneider. At the chequered flag, Schneider’s advantage ahead of Ekström was 21sec and ahead of Scheider 19.5sec. Clearly, Bernd showed the better performance.

One week after his 44th anniversary, Bernd Schneider celebrated his 43th victory in DTM and ITC. After seven out of 11 races of the season, Mercedes-Benz leads with 4:3 on race wins. Jamie Green is second overall with 40 points, four points behind leader Timo Scheider (Audi). Paul Di Resta (AMG Mercedes C-Class) is fourth overall with 37 points, followed by Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class) who was seventh today on 28 points.

In the teams’ ranking, Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG (Paul Di Resta/Bruno Spengler) lead with 65 points.

Ralf Schumacher (Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class) came home eighth and scored his first DTM point. Mathias Lauda (Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class) ended up 10th and Susie Stoddart (TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class) finished 12th despite a spin. Maro Engel (JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class) retired after being hit by Katherine Legge (Audi).

A total of 85,000 spectators attended the seventh round of the 2008 DTM at the Nürburgring during the weekend.

Bernd Schneider (2008 Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class), winner: “I am really happy. One week after my anniversary this is my best birthday present. I thank my team for their great efforts and for the right tyre choice. This was the key to success. I had a perfect car and a perfect team throughout the weekend – and the driver wasn’t bad, too.”

Paul Di Resta (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class), second: “We made the right tyre choice in difficult conditions and I improved from 12th on the grid to second place on the opening lap. It was tricky to keep the car on the track in the rain and in the end we decided to change to wet tyres because we didn’t want to take chances with respect to the championship. Second place and eight points are a very good result after yesterday’s qualifying.”

Jamie Green (2008 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class), third: “It rained almost throughout the entire race and it was tricky to push the car to the limit. In the end it was difficult not to go off and I am happy that I didn’t make a mistake.”

Gary Paffett (2007 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class), fourth: “A tough race in very difficult conditions. It is really great that I finished fourth under these circumstances. In the beginning I was able to lead, but the 2008 C-Class cars were faster and I wasn’t able to go their speed. The fight with Ekström and Scheider was fun, and I am glad that I could stay in front of them.”

Bruno Spengler (2008 Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class), seventh: “Maybe it would have been better to change to wet tyres towards the end of the race; however, it was a difficult decision, and I don’t complain. To improve from 16th on the grid to seventh is still a good result.”

Ralf Schumacher (2007 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class), eighth: “A great result. I am really happy that I scored my first DTM point and this in such difficult conditions. It was an exciting race and everything was possible today. I thank my team – everybody did a great job.”

Mathias Lauda (2007 Pixum AMG Mercedes C-Class), 10th: “I started well; however, at the first corner I was hit from behind and lost a couple of places. The car was great and with less rain in the end points would have been possible even with slick tyres.”

Susie Stoddart (2007 TV-Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class), 12th: “I made a good start, however we opted for a wet set-up so when the track was completely dry we struggled. Overall I’m happy and I thank my team for a great job under difficult circumstances.”

Maro Engel (2007 JungeSterne AMG Mercedes C-Class), retired: “I got stuck behind Katherine Legge for awhile and when I wanted to pass her, she pulled over to the right and pushed me towards the pit lane entry. Our cars touched, I spun and got stuck in the gravel.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: “A great race – good for the sport and the DTM. Thanks to the teams HWA, Mücke and Persson for the right tyre choice, a great strategy and good pit stops. Today we ended up in the points with six C-Class cars. Bernd was perfect, one week after his 44th anniversary and after 43 laps he achieved his 43rd DTM victory. Gary posted outstanding lap times with the 2007 C-Class, and also our “DTM apprentice” Ralf showed an awesome race, which was rewarded with his first DTM point. Today, the tyre choice was certainly key, but in the end the drivers are the ones to battle it out on the track. We now won four out of seven races and the championship remains open with four races to go. Prior to the next round in Brands Hatch on 31st August, we want to and have to further improve – however, tonight we will celebrate this special quadruple win.”

HWA AG — earnings per share climb 34.1% to EUR 1.10

- Revenues up 5.6% to EUR 60.9 million
- EBITDA increases by 23.0% to EUR 12.0 million
- EBIT...

Affalterbach, 2 April 2008 – Motor sport specialist HWA AG is reporting an increase in revenues of 5.6%, to EUR 60.9 million, based on audited HGB (German Commercial Code) accounts for the year ended 31 December 2007. EBITDA climbed from EUR 9.7 million to EUR 12.0 million (up 23%), while operating profit (EBIT) improved by 31.7% to EUR 9.1 million (2006: EUR 6.9 million). Financial results for the year under review were EUR 35,000. After taxes on income the net profit for the year was EUR 5.6 million compared with EUR 4.2 million last year, an improvement of 34.4%. Earnings per share climbed from EUR 0.82 to EUR 1.10 in 2007, a gain of 34.1%.

The final results for the past financial year were considerably higher than Management’s original expectations. This is attributable to the fact that towards the end of the year revenue from vehicles and components business was higher than forecast. The results also include one-time development costs in connection with the Mercedes Benz C class change in the DTM. The one-time expenses of EUR 0.3 million incurred in the listing of HWA AG shares on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange are also reflected in the figures. Taking all these factors into account, the Company is extremely satisfied with the way earnings have improved.

HWA AG’s assets and finances at the end of financial 2007 were once again satisfactory: total assets grew from EUR 36.1 million at the end of last year to EUR 43.2 million at 31 December 2007. The equity ratio increased from 58.4% to 61.8%. At the end of the year the liquid assets at the Company’s disposal amounted to EUR 11.3 million, while liabilities to banks stood at EUR 7.4 million. Cash flow from operating activities in 2007 came to EUR 8.5 million. The Company’s healthy financial state means that the growth of its operations can continue to be funded from its own resources.

The Management and Supervisory Boards will propose to the shareholders the payment of a dividend of EUR 0.75% per share for financial 2007.

HWA AG has made a good start to 2008: the Management Board is optimistic about both motor racing and the vehicles and components business. The motor sport specialist is counting on further growth in revenues and earnings in 2008. An additional factor contributing to higher net profits and earnings per share this year will be the significant reduction in the tax burden, as a result of the reform of corporate taxation: the effective tax rate will droop from roughly 38% in 2007 to around 30% in 2008.
<table style="border: medium none ;
Company profile HWA

HWA AG was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from AMG, which was established in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht as the Mercedes Benz customisation specialist. The vehicles and vehicle components business develops and builds exclusive, luxury sports cars for Daimler AG and Mercedes-AMG GmbH. In addition to its DTM racing team and the vehicles and vehicle components business, since 2003 HWA has also manufactured and serviced racing engines for the Formula 3 Euroseries and the British Formula 3 Series. HWA AG currently has 224 employees in its Affalterbach works. In 2006 HWA AG had revenues of EUR 57.6 million and EBIT of EUR 6.9 million. Its net profit after interest and taxes was some EUR 4.2 million. The Company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the Entry Standard segment since 19 April 2007.
